The Development Process of Specialty Paper

Created on 12.02
The term "Special Type Paper" only gradually became popular after the 1960s. Some people also call it special processed paper. Specialty paper originated from the carbonless copy paper successfully developed by the NationalCashRegisterCo. of the United States in 1945. Later, other specialty papers were constantly introduced, broadening people's horizons and changing their traditional views on paper. The raw materials are no longer limited to plant fibers; non-plant fibers (such as inorganic fibers and synthetic fibers) have also been applied. Structurally, in addition to the interwoven fiber layer, the number of coating layers can also be processed or increased. In terms of effect, it can be copied according to the design as needed, which is something that was never thought of in the past. However, the development of specialty paper faces many difficulties, such as large capital investment, high equipment requirements, and great technical difficulty. Meanwhile, the application scope of many specialty papers is relatively narrow and the demand is small. It has not yet taken shape in the short term and awaits people's exploration. The output of domestic specialty paper is very low and far from meeting the usage requirements of specialty paper in China. However, due to the wide range of applications, high performance and added value of specialty paper, technical support from domestic small and medium-sized paper mills that produce specialty paper and academic research institutions is not very common, which poses certain obstacles to the development of specialty paper in China. Specialty paper manufacturing enterprises should make appropriate production plans and move towards product transformation and technological development. It is believed that a favorable space for the survival and development of the domestic specialty paper industry can surely be established.
