White cardstock

Created on 12.03
White card paper is made entirely from bleached chemical wood pulp, with a basis weight of 150-400 grams per square meter. It features high folding endurance and good ink absorption. According to its application, it is classified into three major categories: social cards (accounting for 60%), cigarette cards (26%), and food cards (14%). It features high surface smoothness and excellent stiffness, making it suitable for packaging of consumer goods such as pharmaceuticals, electronic products, and food, as well as printed products.
Relying on the raw material advantage of zero-tariff imported wood pulp, the domestic white card paper industry has formed the potential to replace imported products in terms of price competitiveness. By the end of 2020, there were 32 production lines in China with an annual production capacity of 13 million tons. Among them, the production capacity of APP Group, Bohui, Chenming Group and Sun Paper accounted for 77.4%. The domestic price of white cardboard is significantly influenced by raw materials and market supply and demand. In 2021, due to the sharp increase in wood pulp prices and the promotion of plastic restriction orders, the price broke through the 10,000 yuan mark from 7,500 yuan per ton. In 2023, the industry as a whole was in a state of negative profit. In April 2024, leading enterprises raised their prices by 200 to 300 yuan per ton again due to the rising cost of wood pulp. By the end of 2025, the planned new production capacity is 12.65 million tons, mainly concentrated in Guangxi (8.1 million tons) and the Jiangsu-Zhejiang region. The expansion scale of APP Group reaches 4.3 million tons. The current market demand is weakening, inventory pressure is increasing, and competition in the industry will become more intense after the new production capacity is put into operation
