Food packaging paper is a packaging product mainly made of pulp and cardboard. It needs to meet hygiene standards such as being non-toxic, oil-resistant, waterproof and moisture-proof, and pass tests for lead, arsenic, fluorescent substances and other items as well as national standards such as GB 11680-89. As a material that can come into direct contact with food, its production needs to undergo physical, chemical and biological tests to ensure safety. The raw materials are mostly from renewable resources such as wood, bamboo and reeds, and can decompose naturally after being discarded. In 2022, the domestic market size of this material reached 3.073 million tons, thanks to its advantages of elasticity, printability and opacity. Under the global trend of environmental protection, paper packaging is gradually replacing plastic products, and some countries have banned plastic food packaging. With the continuous upgrading of industry technology, in 2025, Shandong Bohui Paper Industry launched the water-based barrier food card EPP, which replaces the traditional PE lamination process with a water-based barrier layer, achieving features such as recyclability and microwave heating, and has passed international certifications such as TUV Rheinland in Germany. Domestic enterprises such as Wuzhou Special Paper and Xianhe Co., Ltd. have promoted the large-scale application of container packaging such as paper cups and paper bowls through detailed product layout
