Characteristics of Pearlized Paper

Created on 2025.12.09
① Low surface energy and poor ink adhesion
The smooth surface of the flake structure composed of mica and titanium dioxide (or other metal oxides), combined with the requirement for a relatively smooth paper surface during papermaking (to allow the pearlescent effect to better penetrate the coating and reach the human eye), results in pearlescent paper having significantly lower surface energy than ordinary white board paper. This makes ink difficult to adhere and absorb during printing, and slows drying.
②. Surface pearlescent effect is easily compromised.
Relatively speaking, pearlescent paper carries a higher cost.
