Environmental organizations question the exemption of EUDR for printed materials

On December 5th, the tripartite negotiationdecided to remove the EUDR control over printed materials such as books and newspapers, citing a lower risk of deforestation. This is expected to reducethe cost of publishing paper in Europe by 8%, but the environmental organization EPN criticized that this move gives the green light to"deforestation fiber smuggling".
