1. The prototype of the color branded paper technique originated from the combination of traditional gilding, embossing and dyed paper techniques. In the mid-20th century, the printing industry in Europe and America attempted to enhance the texture of packaging and books by applying heat pressing on the surface of dyed paper to achieve variations in patterns and color depth, laying the foundation for color-coated paper.
2. In its early days, it was mainly used in niche scenarios such as high-end greeting cards and certificates. It relied on manual or semi-mechanized production, with low output and high costs. It only served luxury brands and art institutions. The craftsmanship was mainly simple hot pressing and single-color branding, with limited fineness of colors and patterns.
3. In the early stage, thick art paper was mostly used as the base material. Through surface dyeing and coating treatment to adapt to hot stamping, problems such as uneven dyeing and easy damage during hot pressing were solved, and the basic material standards for color-coated paper were gradually formed.
