It measures the weight of one square meter of paper in grams.
Higher GSM = heavier and generally thicker paper with better stiffness and premium feel.

Common GSM Ranges and Recommended Uses
35–55 gsm: Newspapers, lightweight packaging
60–120 gsm: Everyday office use
60–80 gsm: Book interiors, notebooks, copy/print paper, invoices
80–100 gsm: Letterheads, certificates, food bags
100–120 gsm: Diplomas, lightweight brochures
130–170 gsm: Flyers, posters, DMs. Good rigidity, weather resistance (coated grades), vibrant color reproduction
170–300 gsm: Magazine covers, invitations, book covers, premium flyers. Noticeable thickness and luxurious hand-feel
300–450+ gsm: Business cards,hang tags, greeting cards, packaging boxes, folders. High stiffness, durable.
